मम प्रथमा प्रार्थना -
या कुंदेंदु तुशारहारधवला या शुभ्रा-वस्त्रावृता
या वीनावर-दंड-मंडित-करा या श्वेत-पद्मासना |
या ब्रह्माच्युत-प्रभ्र्तिभिः देवैः सदा वन्दिता
सा मां पातु सरस्वती भगवती निः शेष जाड्यापहा ||
The one who is adorned with the flowers of kunda and waterdrops, who is covered in white adornments. The one who holds the Veena, provider of wishes (vara) as well as punishments (danda), and one who is seated on the white lotus; the one who is prayed to by Brahma-Vishnu and their likes - Let She protect me - Goddess Saraswathi - the one who removes all that is not complete and lethargy from my mind.

धन्यवादः भो! "पातु" इत्यस्य अर्थः कः? बहुषु श्लोकेषु दृष्यते किन्तु मम समीपे यत् dictionary अस्ति तस्मिन् एतत् पदम् नास्ति । अर्थः "protect" वा?
पातुं अर्थः रक्षितुम् पालयितुम् तथा;
= to watch, keep, preserve, protect, screen, shelter, defend against; to rule,govern ; to beware of; to observe, notice
attend to; to oversee, take care of, tend; to keep, observe
